Impression Obsession, one of our most popular vendors for both stamps and dies, has released their Spring collection and the stamps are in stock now. The new dies will be arriving in early February. (Be sure to see the stamps and dies on our What's New page). Today I want to share with you three cards that use some of their products, both new and old. For the card on the left I was inspired by my friend Stephanie Romero who is an art teacher at a local high school. She saw the stamp and said she would shower the girl with hearts. I had to try to capture her idea! I stamped the Curtsy Silhouette and embossed it in black then sponged pink ink below her feet. Next I die cut lots of little hearts using a variety of dies (Paper Smooches Tiny Hearts, Memory Box Mini Heart Collection and Taylored Expressions Little Bits Love Confetti). I mounted the focal image on decorative paper and stamped a sentiment (Amuse Art Stamps) adding one little heart. Stephanie's comment on the card? "Cuuute!" Thanks!
I loved the IO Mason Jar die the first time I saw it and it has been in stock for about a year, but I have never used it!!! Well I think its debut is stunning! First, the paper is all from Taylored Expressions new 6" x 6" paper pad "Formula for Love." I started this card by doing lots of die cutting: the Mega Circles (Spellbinders) from cardstock and patterned paper; the Mason Jar die from heavyweight vellum, white cardstock and the tiny heart paper; lots of little hearts (see die list in the card description above); and finally the precious little tag from Taylored Expressions. I stamped the tag with the matching TE Many Minis All Occasions stamp set. To assemble the mason jar I glued the vellum to the white cardstock along the sides only and inserted the hearts (no glue). Then I glued the top of the vellum jar to the white cardstock. and finished the card by adding the topper to the jar and tying on the tag.
For a more elegant Valentine I used IO's Flourish Heart die. This card may look complicated but it's actually very easy. I die cut the Flourish Heart out of black glossy cardstock and out of white cardstock. Next I trimmed off some of the negative space on the white cardstock so I could inlay the black die cut into the remaining negative space. If that isn't clear now, make your die cuts and it will be apparent what you need to cut off.
I adhered the white cardstock piece to the decorative paper and inlaid the black die cut. To embellish the card I die cut the heart from another paper in the same collection and popped it up, then made some little rolled flowers using the Impression Obsession Spiral Flowers small die set and a quilling tool. These were glued on the card over a few stems with leaves (another IO die). The sentiment is from Penny Black's clear stamp set "From the Heart."
I hope these samples will inspire and delight you. You can see these cards close up with a list of all supplies in our Gallery along with many other Valentines. And you can visit our What's New page to see (most) of the products used to create them. Thanks for stopping by today and be sure to join our mailing list today!
My Punny Valentine
WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 28, 2015
Valentine’s Day is a day for lovers, but it is also a perfect time to remind friends and family that you think of them fondly. And what cuter way to do so than with a play on words or "pun."
Light Bulb People – design inspired by Joan Ervin
That’s exactly what Taylored Expressions has done in their new stamp set called Punny Love. This set has eight cute puns about love and friendship, each coordinating with a new Little Bits die. Here is another sample using the darling little Light Bulb die.
Love You Watt – design inspired by Taylor VanBruggen
The new Mini Envelope die is also very popular. Here I filled it with confetti from two more Little Bits dies (Love Confetti and Kisses Confetti) and sequins. The sentiment is from another new petite stamp set with coordinating “Love” die. The backgrounds are made with the new Postage Stamp Stacklets.

Here are more cards using these Taylored Expressions products. To see a larger version of these cards as well as a list of all the products I used to create them and the designers names please visit the Valentines Gallery and click on the cards.
Remember that you can always see these samples with a list of the products used to create them in the Gallery under Valentines. And you can see the dies and stamps on the What's New page.
