Butterflies Flying Everywhere
FRIDAY, APRIL 24, 2015
Hello friends. The card on the left is called “Step Into Spring” and isn’t it the sweetest? I copied it based on the one designed by Dave Brethauer of Memory Box fame. I have been playing with butterfly stamps and dies the last few days and having a lot of fun trying new techniques which I will share with you in an upcoming class. I used a variety of dies, stamps, inks and die cutting techniques. Below are the cards I made – remember you can always see these card in the Gallery under the Awesome New Samples cateogry.

What’s New at The Stamp Act
Fineline and Precision
Bottles for Glue
The Fineline Bottles kit that I mentioned in an earlier post has finally arrived. The kit includes 2 empty bottles ready to be filled with a variety of media. I plan to fill one with Tombow Mono Multi and one with Glossy Accents. These empty applicator bottles feature a stainless steel dispensing tip for precise application of liquid media and the unique Cap/Wire system that is non-clogging and air-tight. I also ordered the Precision Bottle that has a fine metal tip also. This bottle come 1 per package. Stop in and get yours or call or email me to reserve yours.
New Dies from Little B
We have new dies from Little B including 2 with sentiments and 2 that make unique cards. The Rose Card die can be used to cut a focal image that can be adhere to a folded card (see red card) or it can cut the front of a card with an open rose image at the top (see pink card). The Happy Birthday die cuts the folded card and the extra words that can be adhered over the pre-cut words. This die will arrive in a few weeks. To reserve any of these dies, call or email me.
Distress Ink Pads: Color of the Month
All of the brand new Distress Ink Colors of the Month ink pads and re-inkers will be in stock next Tuesday. The colors are beautiful and distress ink is a really great ink for stamping, watercoloring and sponging backgrounds. Remember when you join our “color of the month club” you get 10% off each month’s new ink pad plus a free ink pad after you buy 6. The first four colors announced are Cracked Pistachio, Abandoned Coral, Mermaid Lagoon and Fossilized Amber. To join the Color of the Month Club, call or email me.
ShadowPress Station from Tim Holtz
This handy tool helps you cast the perfect creative shadow! The ShadowPress Station is a plastic tool that lets you ink a drop shadow when using the ShadowPress debossing folders. Simply slide a ShadowPress Debossing Folder (see below in pinks) into the station and roll ink over the words with a mini brayer. Then deboss the words and shadow with your die cut machine.
Shining Stars for Every Occasion
SUNDAY, APRIL 19, 2015
Hello Members and friends. Today I have a fun project for you using several new dies and stamps from Taylored Expressions. For these fun cards (inspired by Taylor Van Bruggen) I am using two large dies: Ray of Sunshine and Shining Star which were designed to work together, and the new Shining Star sentiments stamp set. You can easily make multiple cards at once following the simple steps listed below.
Cut Shining Star die from white cardstock for the cover of the cards.
Die cut Walking on Sunshine from a variety of colored cardstocks to get the inner pieces and the outline.
Put a little wet glue on the center ring of one of the Walking on Sunshine outlines and adhere it lightly to the center of a white folded A2 card.
Glue inner pieces into the outline alternating colors. Once all rays are filled, remove the outline.
Adhere the Shining Star die over the colored rays with foam tape.
Punch or die cut circle (1½”) from white cardstock and a mat (1”) from colored cardstock and stamp sentiment of your choice.
Decorate with various dies like graduation cap, stars, party hat or balloons.
This past weekend I had dinner with a friend to celebrate her birthday. She has never disclosed her age to friends, family or even strangers so trying to figure out her age has been a running joke. When I saw the Technique Tuesday Umpteenth Birthday clear stamp set I knew it was perfect for making her birthday card. Here's the card I made for her:

Graduation Galore from Impression Obsession
FRIDAY, APRIL 17, 2015
I just received the new release from Impression Obsession (IO) and it's chockful of fantastic Graduation dies. The good news is that IO has some of the best artwork and the best prices of any die manufacturer. The bad news is they are constantly overwhelmed with orders and as a consequence very slow to ship. These new dies will be here at The Stamp Act around the first week of May which I know is cutting it close for graduation cards. Please don't be disappointed when they sell out -- pre-order today calling or emailing me.
You can see all the dies with prices on the Impression Obsession What's New page and some more samples are shown below.
IO die: Grads Jumping, set of girl and boy; All-in-one Rectangle Frame; IO stamp You Did It.
IO dies Congrats, Grad, All-in-one Frame Squares, Mortarboard and Scroll small set and Mortarboard and Scroll mini set.
IO die: Grads Jumping, set of girl and boy; All-in-one Rectangle Frame; IO stamp Sky's the Limit.
IO dies Grads Tossing, Congratulations and Yeah!

Taylored Expressions dies Class of, Just the Numbers and Bracket Notecard (size is 3" x 3").
Small Enclosure cards with Baby Treat Toppers
Taylored Expressions newest Treat Toppers die set is all about baby -- and it is soooo cute! I made 3" x 3" enclosure cards with the largest of the Spellbinders Mega Rectangles Scalloped dies then decorated them with TE die Baby Treat Toppers and TE Little Bits dies Baby Confetti (tiny rattle, duckie and safety pin -- so cute!), Onesie and Baby Buggy. The cable knit embossing folder makes a great background for the treat topper die and the new TE Double the Joy paper pad has the perfect patterned papers for these little cards. Enjoy seeing other samples below. Check out all the products from TE here.
I used TE's new Mama & Me stamp set for these two cards. The elephants are paper pieced with the paper using the Double the Joy paper pad. A little grass (IO die Grass) and ribbon and you're set for a new baby or Mother's Day. (Design inspired by Kendra Weistock)
One more 3" x 3" notecard. I used TE's Bracket Notecard to die cut the notecard and the Mama & Me stamp set for the focal image. The tiny waves were die cut with one of the dies in the new Taylored Expressions Skinny Borders 2 set. (Design inspired by Joan Ervin)

Spring Dies, Stamps and Inks -- Oh My!
SUNDAY, APRIL 12, 2015
Hello members and friends. Settle in to read this blog post because I want to share with you the many new exciting products that are either in stock or coming very soon. Before I show you some of the new products, here are a few “housekeeping” items about the website:
What’s New and in Stock?
Penny Black – Most exciting are the new paper pads. They are gorgeous, rich and lush florals and patterns in a paper deck of 48 pages. You will want both!
Penny Black also makes some of the prettiest script dies and we have three new ones!
Hero Arts – Their new Ombre ink pads in 4 colors are here! Each ink pad has a graduation of three colors for a very pretty ombre effect. We also have the clear stamp set Papel Picado Banners with coordinating die set to cut out the banners. Their clear stamp set Everyday Sayings is a really good set with sentiments that can be used for just about every occasion. I use the “Sending Warm Fuzzies” sentiment with mittens in the winter. The Sparkle Gem Flowers are so cute – I've already used them on 2 cards!
What’s New and coming very soon?
Taylored Expressions – Last week I shared with you the Spring and Graduation items from the TE latest release. This week check out the new baby items – so cute! If you’re planning a baby shower or need baby favors, the Baby Treat Toppers are really cute – and they can be used on cards too. TE’s newest embossing folders are always popular. Emboss a sheet of green paper with the new Cable Knit embossing folder and it looks like greenery or flower stems. Also the new Cloud Stacklets are great for making shaker cards! How fun is that? And be sure to read the sentiment sin the My Favorite Mom stamp set – they are really funny!
Memory Box – MB’s Spring 2015 release is all about the stitching: Stitched Scalloped Circles, stitched clouds and 2 sets of stitched borders – stitching is really popular right now. Other new dies include a Row of Poppies, Citrus Wedges and a fun Oceana Corner. MB also released the upper case to their popular Alphabet Soup die set – this is a very small alphabet that works well on cards. New stencils include mini clouds and shimmering stars plus their popular Tessatina die now has a matching stencil. The Spring 2015 release has many other new dies that I am confident will trickle into the store over the next few months. Let me know if there’s anything you can’t live without and I will be happy to order it for you!
Poppystamps – The PS release has Aquarium Fish to go with the Oceana Corner; an Elegant Musical Staff; and Stitched Landscapes. They also released some new clear stamp sets which I think will be very popular. “Into the Words” has very cute sayings!
What’s Else is new??? Paper and Tools!
Real Wood paper sheets in birch and cherry. These are great for making inlaid die cards and can be colored with Copic makers beautifully. These are sold in single sheets.
Cosmo Cricket Watercolor paper pad has images that come to life when you apply watercolor over them. Watch for an upcoming class.
Doodlebug Sunkissed paper collection is bright and colorful and perfect for summer. We have the 12" x 12" and the 6" x 6" paper pad.
Tim Holtz Watercolor paper is perfect for watercoloring with distress inks or markers.
Milwaukee Heat Tool is gets hotter than other heat tools so it embosses faster. It’s the best!
Elizabeth Craft Die Snips will make snipping apart dies a breeze. Unlike regular wire snips that are big and clunky, these have a tapered end so they easily fit into tight places to snip dies apart. Check them out – I reach for mine almost every day!
Score ‘n’ Pierce Tool ranks as one of my top tools. It has 4 retractable tips: 2 that pierce and 2 that score (ball stylus). When you need to poke paper out of a die this tool’s tip will get into the tiny holes.
New Classes too!
Check out the new classes and please scroll all the way through the classes because they are not in date order (we’re working on it!!!). Here’s a snapshot -- please see classes for a look at all the class samples.

New Spring Collections
WEDNESDAY, APRIL 08, 2015
Hello members and friends. I hope your Easter holiday was pleasant. Today I want to share with you a brand new release from Taylored Expressions that’s all about Spring, Mother’s Day and Graduation! You can see all these dies and stamps here and on the What’s New Page (close up with prices). The new release will be here this week. If you want to reserve any items, just contact me here.
For Spring, TE is offering new Little Bits dies including Watering Can, Wheelbarrow, Umbrella, Bicycle, Weather Confetti and Park Bench . Die cut any of these and mount them on a background made their new embossing folder called Raindrops. And their new Bloomin’ Boots stamps and dies will look great combined with the new LIttle Bits dies too! Be sure to check our Rainy Day Category on the What's New page and the Gallery for other items that will combine beautifully with these too.
Graduation and Stars
I love that Stars are so trendy right now. Stars are a perfect motif to use for cards for graduation, birthday, congratulations, encouragement and many other occasions. This Shining Star Cutting die is so cool and the soaring Hot Air Balloons (see above) combined with Sky High Sentiments or Shining Star Sentiments will make a perfect graduation card.
My favorite new die is the Class Of die that combines perfectly with the Just A Number die set. This is a die you will reach for over and over! And the new "World is Waiting" sentiment set has wonderful sentiments for any new graduate.
"Mama and Me" is such a sweet stamp set for Mother's Day as well as new baby, friendship and thinking of you cards.
What Else is New?
We have new dies from Memory Box coming soon too. Check them out on the What’s New page. And Memory Box and Poppystamps have a new Spring Collection which I am sure will be in stock soon.
There are no classes offered this weekend, but I will be posting new classes for April 18 and 25 later this week. I am working on a book all about Texas which I think you will love, plus classes on embossing folder techniques and watercoloring. Watch the Upcoming Classes page for more details.
