Taylored Expressions Summer Dies and Stamps
TUESDAY, JUNE 23, 2015
Hello Members and Friends. Happy Summer. Today I want to share with you some cards I made with new dies and stamps from Taylored Expressions. They are just pure fun!
Flower Circles – Taylored Expressions dies Peek-a-Boo Stitched Circles and Label Stacklets 2; TE stamp set Berry Special; TE Embossing Folder Dotted lattice; TE paper pad Rainbow Brights; paper flowers
3 Fruit Circles – Taylored Expressions dies Peek-a-Boo Stitched Circles and Little Bits Fruit; TE stamp set Berry Special; TE paper pad Rainbow Brights
Tip -- Be creative with your dies. On the grapes die, I drew in circles for the grapes with a darker purple marker. For the cherries, I used sequins, but you can also use enamel sprinkle "dots" instead of the cherries die cut. If you do use the cherries die cut, color the tops with Glossy Accents to make them shiny! Add tiny black dots to the strawberries to add a more textured look.
Pool Party White – Taylored Expressions dies Pool Party and Rolling Clouds; Cuttlebug embossing folder Bubbles; design inspired by Joan Ervin
Pool Party Navy – Taylored Expressions dies Pool Party and Rolling Clouds;Carta Blanca die Summer Sun; Impression Obsession die Sun and Moon; design inspired by Kerri Michaud
Tip -- Don't have a wave die? Use clouds! The stitching on this set of cloud dies adds lots of texture, and embossing the clouds with an embossing folder makes a more interesting background. Cut the pool party from your main color (here white or navy) then cut the umbrella and balls from a contrasting paper. Paper piece these to add more color and definition.
Have a Cherry Day – Taylored Expressions dies Peek-a-Boo Stitched Circles, Little Bits Fruit and Rainbow Scallop Border; TE stamp set Berry Special; design inspired by Joan Ervin.
God Bless America – Impression Obsession Circle Shaker Frame; Taylored Expressions stamp Patriotic Prose; TE paper pad Summer Nights; twine and enamel stars by Doodlebug; design inspired by Karen Amidon
Tip -- To emphasize the sentiment on the Cherry card, I punched a red background circle then punched the green circle a little smaller. I added Glossy Accents to the cherries to give them some shine. I also added enamel stars to the Patriotic Prose stamped image.
Fashionably Late Pink – Taylored Expressions stamp Fashionably Late; Memory Box die Scallop Border; TE die Bloom Where You Are Planted; Doodlebug enamel sprinkles; design inspired by Laura Fredrickson
Fashionably Late Blue – Taylored Expressions stamp Fashionably Late; Memory Box die Scallop Border; TE die Label Stacklets 1; EK Success circle punch 1¼”; Doodlebug enamel sprinkles; design inspired by Charmaine Ikach
Tip -- Dress up your focal image by adding clear glitter glue to the feather in the hat; Viva Decor Pearl Pen dots to the necklace; and Glossy Accents to her lips! I stamped the arm again and cut it out to add some height and definition. Enamel sprinkles and ribbon add the just right finishing touch. And don't forget the inside of the card. This set comes with the perfect sentiment for inside!
A Few Other Fun Cards
Butterfly Fence – Impression Obsession dies Medium Butterflies, Spring Wreath (flowers), Grass Border, Tall Grass and Tall Fence; Spellbinders die Grand Squares; Penny Black paper pad Beau Jardines; design inspired by KittieKraft
Tip -- To add sparkle and shine to the butterflies and flowers I used the Wink of Stella Glitter Pen -- quick and easy and just enough glitz! Layer grass dies to add additional height to card. A tiny pearl is just right for the butterfly's body.
Open Scroll Flower – Impressions Obsession dies Open Scroll Flower and Thanks; Cuttlebug embossing folder Swiss Dots; Darice embossing folder Basketweave; design inspired by Jenny Gropp
Tip -- I die cut the flower outline from white cardstock several times then glued it to the white background. Next I paper pieced the leaves and flowers from decorative paper. Once everything was adhered, I embossed the background first with the Basketweave embossing folder then with the Swiss Dots folder. This adds lots of texture and interest to the focal image. I die cut the Thanks die several times from black and glued them together to make a thicker greeting. Last touch? Wink of Stella glitter pen on the sentiment and enamel dots on the flowers.
Fall Ghords and Apples – Poppy dies Apple a Day, Ghourds and Pumplins, Rustic Wagon and Bushel Basket; Taylored Expressions dies Frame in Frame, Wispy Grass and Cloud Border.
Tip -- Anchor the wagon with a grass border across the bottom and a cloud background on top. Grass from kraft cardstock looks "fallish." For the wagon and baskets, use woodgrain cardstock "colored" with a brown colored pencil to bring out the grain. Distress edges of pumpkins, ghourds and apples with a darker color to add depth. Frame your focal image using a frame die like the Taylored Expressions Frame in Frame. The lines on the frame die cut are embossed when the die is cut.
Organizing Your Stash
Several of you have told me how much you enjoyed the blog post on organization. One thing I forgot to mention is that I have compiled a list of all the dies I have ever sold in the store. The list is an Excel spreadsheet, ordered by manufacturer with the dies listed alphabetically. There are many ways you can use the spreadsheet: edit it for just the dies you own then print as a quick reference; edit the spreadsheet by category of dies, e.g. all floral dies, tree dies or Christmas dies listed together; or add a column to the alphabetical list for category so you can find the die faster. I am happy to share this spreadsheet with you ... just ask me about it the next time you are in the store or make a purchase.
Big Sale ... Big Sale ... Big Sale
I have added a lot of stamps and dies to the Big Sale. The first 6 categories on the left of the What's New Page are sale items. Please browse through these and if you see something you want, just give me a call or email to reserve it for pick up or mailing. There are some really good sales so don't miss out!!!
Christmas in July
Many of you know that most manufacturers start releasing their Fall, Halloween and Christmas dies and stamps in July and I am starting to see these new collections. I will be ordering these and you will see them in the store next month. I can't show you the new items until their release date so you'll have to be patient. But hint, hint: I have already seen some really cool Halloween dies!
I usually take vacation around July 4th weekend and I may again this year. However I am not sure I will because my deal little Bichon Frise dog, Chloe, is suffering from acute arthritis and cannot walk very well. Please say a little prayer for her and I will let you know when or if the store will be closed.
