Get Well Cards
TUESDAY, AUGUST 04, 2015
Hello Members and Friends. Get well cards are something we all need to keep in our card stash. A friend of mine recently fell and is rehabbing in the hospital for a few weeks and that inspired me to use some stamps and dies from My Favorite Things and make a few cards for her and my stash.
Under the Weather – My Favorite Things clear stamp set Blue Skies Ahead; Memory Box die Marshmallow Clouds; Taylored Expressions die Banner Stacklets 1; Memory Box cling-mount stamp Articles Ledger; design inspired by Tammy Hershberger
Tip: Don't overlook background stamps -- you'd be surprised how many times you can stamp your own background instead of reaching for decorative paper.
TIP: Enamel accents (I like the Doodlebug enamel spirnkles) are a perfect little embellishments for almost any card.
Nothing But Blue Skies – My Favorite Things clear stamp set Blue Skies Ahead; MFT die Cloud Background; design inspired by Michele Boyer
TIP: I cut the Cloud Background die from blue and white and popped up a few of the white clouds. (More enamel sprinkles!)
When Skies Are Gray – My Favorite Things clear stamp set Blue Skies Ahead; MFT die Cloud Background; Taylored Expressions stamp and die set Sunny Days; design inspired by Amy Rohl
TIP: For this card, I used the same Cloud Background die but embosssed the die into the gray paper. Embossing really stretches your dies. Just use the tan rubber mat with your base and cover plates -- it won't cut the paper, it will embosss it.
Bored with all your cards looking the same? Try cutting your background asymetrically. (More enamel sprinkles!)
Breast Cancer Cards
I hope you will not need these cards for friends or family members, but if you do they send an encouraging message.
Believe in Yourself – Impression Obsession clear stamp set Fight Like a Girl; IO dies Rectangle Frame #2, Ornate Rectangle Frame; Memory Box die Stitched Rectangles; Penny Black paper pad Painted Blooms; design inspired by Jenny Gropp
Strength & Courage – Impression Obsession clear stamp set Fight Like a Girl; IO die Bow small; Memory Box die Tiny Hearts; My Favorite Things die Scallop Border small; Cuttlebug Embossing Folder Swiss Dots. (The image on the right is the inside of the card).
Art Impressions Funny People Cards
On a much funnier note, I recently got in some really funny stamps from Art Impressions. Take a look and come in and shop for these funny people!
Celeste – Art Impressions cling-mount stamps Celeste and Better with Wine; My Favorite Things stencil Cow Print; Taylored Expressions die Label Stacklets 1; design insired by Amy Rysa
TIP: I took my clue for the background for this card from Celeste's animal print shirt. I used the "cowprint" stencil and sponged on Memento Potters Clay ink. Perfect background!
TIP: Continue your background inside by die cutting a stenciled background.
Old Guys Club – Art Impressions cling-mount stamps Old Guys Club and Ole’ Geezer; Spellbinders die Classic Circles; design inspired by Karen Amidon
Who doesn't need more "guy" cards? Here's an easy one that's sure to make the lucky recipient chuckle! Stamp and color and be sure to get the addiitonal stamp for the inside -- it's a hoot!
Light Candles – Art Impressions cling-mount stamps Fire Out; My Favorite Things clear stamp set Piece of Cake; Spellbinders die Classic Circles; design inspired by Brenda Turner
TIP: Be sure to look at your stamps sets for sentiments and images that will complement each other. The "fire extinguisher" sentiment is perfect with this "firey" lady! The candle background paper works well with the theme of this card too.
